Area Jeune Ballet and VERVE Leeds at The Riley Theatre on 17 April

On Wednesday, Dance Area’s Area Jeune Ballet of Geneva and NSCD’s VERVE of Leeds will perform three works by Jose Agudo, Gil Carlos Harush, Noa Zuk and Ohad Fishof.

Billed as ‘ritualistic, celebratory and intense’, the three dance works were created in Geneva and Leeds.  Joining forces in this way should produce a doubly exciting performance for ballet lovers and an excellent induction to ballet for everyone else!

Drawing inspiration from the Sanskrit term ‘samsāra’, which refers to the ‘wheel of life’ and the idea of rebirth, SAM exudes an atmosphere of ritual, celebration and drama.

Kiss & Fly by Gil Carlos Harush is a work that captures and celebrates those often overlooked moments in life – the sights, kisses, and conversations we take for granted.

Completing the programme, another chance to see VERVE perform the riotous Shutdown by Noa Zuk and Ohad Fishof.  13 dancers storm the stage in this fierce celebration of movement and rhythm.

Area Jeune Ballet is a Swiss pre-professional company enabling accomplished young dancers to sample life as a practising artist and work with the industry’s most influential choreographers.

VERVE is NSCD’s postgraduate company, led by Artistic Director Matthew Robinson.

The performance begins at 7.30 p.m. and tickets are £8/£5.
