The Carriageworks in Leeds is the place and 30 October is the date. The time is either 11 a.m. or 2 p.m. The audience? Children over 5 and their families.
Mission…Save the World! is M6 Theatre Company’s new production. It’s energetic and highly visual and all about the rivalry between two superheroes; their strengths and weaknesses. They do share one significant problem – Mission Control – voiced by Sue Johnston OBE.
Captain Clever is good at breaking codes and solving problems, and Captain Conker is super-fast and not scared of anything. Well, maybe spelling. When they engage in a tadpole catching competition, they work as a team, overcoming their differences in order to save the world.
Gilly Baskeyfield, who created the story and is the Company’s Artistic Director, said:
“Mission…Save the World! is an original M6 piece that awakens the inner superhero in all of us and explores the ways in which working together can make a big difference. It’s wonderful to see how mesmerised children are when watching the show – especially the excitement around whether the tadpoles on stage are real!
It has been a real privilege to work with our patron, Sue Johnston OBE, on this project. Sue has such a long running history with us at M6, having acted in productions during the 1970s and 1980s and remained a constant supporter of our company and its work.”
M6 Theatre Company was founded in 1977 and is based in Rochdale. The Company specialises in theatre for young audiences.
