The Simon on The Streets Team is holding a Christmas Prize Draw to raise money to support the homeless and vulnerable in the Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield areas. The Charity has given us this example of just one of the people they help:
‘Vulnerable people such as B (not real name). B has been supported by one of our Outreach Workers for the past six months. He is known to all services in the area for his lack of engagement.
B suffers from poor mental health. He finds it difficult to cope in emergency hostels and supported accommodation, and after “outbursts” at staff will end up back out on the streets.
Simon on the Streets is able to provide long-term, non-judgmental and empathetic support to B, something he greatly needs.’
So – the work of the homeless charities stretches beyond providing hot meals, clothing and a sometimes a place to sleep. The cause is far more complex than it at first seems, and the need is not diminishing.
