The World’s Biggest Blanket Fort – Another World Record for Leeds?

On Wednesday 28 August and Thursday 29, Yorkshire’s Time4Sleep will make an attempt to break the record for the world’s biggest blanket fort – in Millennium Square!  It will hopefully measure 661 square metres.

With the use of 650 blankets and some scaffolding, the aim is that the fort will exceed the current record of 625.79 square metres.

Once the record is achieved, people passing by will be invited to enter the fort to celebrate the achievement with some food and drink, and there’ll be games for parents and their children.  The fort will be open for activities and refreshments between 2 pm and 5 pm on Thursday 29th.

Once the fun and games are over, the used blankets will be donated to a homeless charity.

Time4Sleep’s CEO, Jonathan Warren, said:  “Building a blanket fort is something that takes us all back to our childhood, no matter how old we are. We can’t wait to host this truly memorable event, smashing the world record and providing the people of Leeds with the novelty of seeing the world’s biggest blanket fort.  We’re hoping to see plenty of people come down to visit us in the fort and enjoy the games and refreshments that we put on. Whether you’re six years old or sixty, our blanket fort is the manifestation of every childhood fantasy, so you’ll be encouraged to let your imaginations run wild and have a great time when you’re inside!”
