Organised and presented by The Yorkshire Mafia, a quality driven, ambitious business membership organisation in Yorkshire backed by the support of a mix of event partners and sponsors from all over the region and beyond, Leeds Business Week endeavours to bring together the members of the business community of all sectors and sizes. Speaking of the thought behind the programme, Geoff Shepherd, Founder and Chairman of The Yorkshire Mafia explained:
There are so many disparate and competing business groups, stakeholders and organisations in Leeds. We wanted there to be an annual focal point for bringing people together in the City and the wider region; something that would hopefully spark conversation, new relationships and the sharing of expertise and great content. Bringing so many people together in one city is a tremendous economic catalyst and can only benefit the City’s region.
Not limited by stringent boundaries, the programme is open to the wider community with not-for-profit organisations, local authority and public sector, educational institutes and many more sectors also gracing the occasion. So you need not be a business owner, entrepreneur or executive; Leeds Business Week is for anyone with most of the events granting FREE entry and participation. “From established career professionals to those just entering the world of work and from students to business owners – it’s an open event with the focus clearly on improving the content and opportunities of all who attend,” added Geoff.
Hence, whether you need to sharpen your social media skills, digital know how, seek access to funding or new customer attraction tools or just take an opportunity to learn and build new business relationships, the modular timetable is just a click away on Leeds Business Week Events List enabling you to choose what interests you and build your own programme of events to suit your needs. Registrations for any events with spaces remain open until those events begin.
“It’s a growing event and there’s a long way to go yet and plenty of people and organisations that we’d like to see become involved, not just from Leeds but also from the wider City region. Support is growing but we want more. We want everyone to be involved. We believe that it’s incumbent upon the people and organisations in the Leeds area to support events like this,” said Geoff.
Sponsoring this year’s Leeds Business Week are Blacks Solicitors LLP, Vodafone, We are Boutique, bjss, aql, Leeds Business School, Leeds Beckett University and Vistage. This year, for the very first time, Leeds Business Week has a strategic management board to provide external voices that help shape its direction and strategy. Also a first, the programme this year runs a series of seminars named the Customer Conference. This is a series of seminars and workshops for business owners, executives and not-for-profit organisations to improve their knowledge of how to generate, target, funnel, grow and engage with their customers through a variety of different mediums.
The events line-up this year includes numerous business-focused events held across Leeds with not only seminars, workshops, exhibitions, conferences, master-classes product launches and the like but also on a much lighter note, dinners, business breakfasts and drinks evenings, bringing in an element of entertainment to mingling with the likeminded. Geoff conluded:
There’s nothing else like Leeds Business Week happening in the City or the wider region, certainly not of the scale and quality of this event. Leeds Business Week was begun with the aim of being the Leeds City Region’s annual platform for sharing ideas, building long-lasting business relationships and making things happen…and we’re well on the way to achieving that.
