The menu pays tribute to the many and varying forms of cheese available, showcasing both exotic choices and foreign favourites. As well as the opportunity to create your own personalised cheeseboard, there any many cheese inspired dishes and a cheese-tastic pizza menu to tickle your cheese pickle. There is also a bar stocked with fine wines and tasty cocktails to complete your cheese experience..
Taking over the space previously occupied by The Lab, Homage2Fromage in partnership with Jones Bar group has created a six month pop-up that exhibits the U.K’s most extensive cheese offering, making it set to become a destination for cheese pilgrims everywhere. With a homely but classy appeal, the restaurant oozes a French chicness which is reflected in their fine and delectable delicacies. As well as having a tried and tested cheese offering including hard cows cheese, sheep and goats cheese, washed rind cheese and blue cheeses there will be a number of guest cheeses and a daily mystery cheese which will be revealed to you only after you’ve had a nibble. Aside from this, dishes on the specially curated small plates menu include classic mac and cheese, Yorkshire Rarebit, Baked Camembert spiked with garlic and thyme and a Yorkshire Halloumi slider smothered in hummus and chilli jam. There is also an enticing looking Tartiflette (a layered dish of potato, caramelised onion and bacon with Reblochon cheese bubbling through the layers) and a curiously named Yorkshire Fromage-a-Trois comprising of a deep fried croquette encompassing Yorkshire ham and Wensleydale, Yorkshire Blue and smoked Ribblesdale, which are sure to take avid cheese chompers into another taste dimension. Add a fondue into the mixed and all your cheese wishes have been granted!
Although Homage2Fromage is the first cheese restaurant for owners Vickie and Nick, their dedication to cheese is long-standing. Operating as a cheese club for the last four years under the same name as the restaurant, they have seen popularity in their events grow hugel,y meaning they now host monthly cheese parties in several cities around the North – including Leeds and Harrogate. These events see a variety of different quality cheeses presented to club members each month, with explanations given about each round before members dash up to the board to get a slice of the action. Despite opening the restaurant Vickie and Nick want to continue to host the club each month in the Adelphi, seeing the restaurant as a great addition - not an alternative - for their faithful fromage following. They hope the restaurant will get more people involved in the wonders and versatility of cheese as both a stand alone treat and component of some seriously cheesy dishes, while enjoying a relaxed and informal meeting place.

“Cheese is one of life’s great pleasures and it should be enjoyed with enthusiasm, with friends, with a drink, and without pretension. That’s exactly what you’ll get at Homage2Fromage Cheese Cafe and Bar.”
The pair are excited about their new venue and hope to spread their cheese love throughout the City. Founder Vicki is especially thrilled to share her cheese wisdom:
“We’ve spent years exploring the exciting ,awe-inspiring world of cheese and we’ve tasted all kinds of weird and wonderful ones…not all of them good! Melted molten cheese is something to worship and we’ve always wanted to dedicate a restaurant just to the joys of oozing fromage, so to be able to actually launch a pop-up dedicated to everything we love, is very exciting”
Although the restaurant tucked in the back of the Merrion Centre is only set to be a six-month pop up, the buzz at the launch was infectious and I feel many cheese lovers would protest at the departure of this fromage-tastic addition to the Leeds food scene. Be sure not to miss the opportunity to visit this cheese haven serving Tuesday to Sunday every week till spring next year.
