Under the Arches: Archie's Bar and Kitchen

Under the Arches: Archie's Bar and Kitchen
Ossett Brewery seems quite settled into Granary Wharf’s quiet canal-side spot; The Hop sorts you out with real ales and live music, and Candlebar has more of a chilled atmosphere with a stone oven for crispy based, premium pizzas. So what does the third of the trio, Archie’s Bar and Kitchen, bring to the table?...

Archie's Bar and Kitchen - Place

Homage to its dark arches setting for one, taking up two of the cavernous archways, and expanding onto a mezzanine level. The dark arches are obviously named such for their rather dingy appearance, but Archie’s embraces this aesthetic and makes it cosy, despite the fairly lofty space.

Their mantra ‘Eat Drink Disco’ also places them as a more upbeat venue, certainly in the evening, complete with DJ booth and dance floor, which feel atmospheric with their ‘underwater’ theme. This watery look continues throughout the venue, which is ‘British Seaside’ themed, complete with a mounted rowing boat, and 1974 VW camper van-cum-bar. If its too early for a disco, the menu also provides a bit of interest at Archie’s; serving from breakfast and brunch - featuring the ubiquitous smashed avocado, and eggs Florentine - to evening meals which consist of small and large plates, depending on whether you’re indulging or maybe just fuelling up for a boogie.

Already a compulsory spot for many post-office revellers, Archie’s will surely benefit from the foot traffic, and its punters from their offerings and unique seaside vibe.

Open from Friday 4th September!
