Olaplex; The Revolutionary New Hair Treatment to Hit the UK
Bad hair days are finally a thing of the past with the highly anticipated arrival of Olaplex from across the pond. The revolutionary new treatment which has a celebrity clientele including the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Gwyneth Paltrow, permanently improves the strength and condition of your hair in a matter of minutes. Said to be a game changer in the industry, the groundbreaking treatment allows us to wave goodbye to brittle and lifeless hair and say hello to shinier and healthier locks.

Having been invited down to Architect Hair in Headingley, one of the first salons in the UK to offer the incredible Olaplex treatment, I couldn't wait to see what all the fuss was about. Olaplex is a single active ingredient which reconnects the disulphate sulfur bonds in your hair which are broken by permanent hair colouring and lightening, a process that so many of us undergo. For those of us a bit sceptical when it comes to hair treatments, you can put your mind at ease as Olaplex is free of any silicones, aldehydes and parabens too.

As I was seated in the hairdressers, I was informed about the process in detail. It contains two treatments; the first treatment is massaged into and combed through dry hair, ensuring each strand is thoroughly covered and it is then left to work it's magic for 5 minutes. The second treatment is again massaged and combed through the hair but this one is left on for a total of 20 minutes, allowing you to get up to date on all celebrity gossip in the magazines provided or indulge in a well earned coffee break. After the 20 minutes are up, it's time for a relaxing hair wash and head massage followed by a blow dry in your preferred style. I opted for straight as I wanted to see just how the treatment would look on my natural hair style.

As my hair was being blow dryed, I stared in awe at the shine that was appearing after each strand was blown with the dryer. It was that envious shine that I'd always longed for. It wasn't until I felt my hair afterwards though that I realised the full effects of the treatment. My hair felt incredibly soft and supple and it was almost as if my split ends and frizz had vanished and I'd suddenly been left with thicker looking and bouncier hair. A hair miracle? I think it could be.

I was expecting the treatment to last for hours. I thought it was going to be a really long and complicated procedure but the fact you can be in and out within the hour makes it a great hair pick-me-up in your lunch break. As well as being a standalone treatment for those of us with heavily processed and damaged hair, Olaplex can also be applied as part of your colouring process, reducing the damage and leaving you with a healthy new colour with lasting effects. If in your busy schedules, time really isn't on your side, Architect Hair also sell a top-up treatment for at home use for a truly intensive therapy.

Owner and Salon Director Louise Howard-Long said
