Preview: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Leeds Grand
The long-running musical, Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is touring the UK, stopping off for a week’s stint at Leeds Grand Theatre. With X-Factor winner Joe McElderry and Britain’s Got Talent runner-up Lucy Kay populating the stage, it’s certainly going to be a talented cast!

Written by renowned musical theatre aficionados Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tom Rice, this touring production of Joseph is produced by Bill Kenwright, known also for his successful production of Blood Brothers.

An upbeat and comical production telling the Bible story of Joseph and his coat of many colours, the show follows dreamer Joseph, Jacob’s twelfth son. When his brothers become fed up with their father’s blatant favouritism for Joseph, they betray their brother and sell him as a slave to a pair of passing Ishmaelites, who take him to Egypt. What follows is a completely sung-through production packed with popular cheesy tunes (Any Dream Will Do and Go, Go, Go Joseph to name a couple) and a story, sung to us by a narrator, that tells us Joseph’s fate.

Gracing the stage will be Joe McElderry, winner of TV talent show X-Factor in 2009. After his success with his UK number 2 album, Classic, and his pantomime performance in Cinderella, Joe is turning his talents to theatre. Joining him will be Lucy Kay, Britain’s Got Talent’s runner up in 2014.

For an uplifting evening where you’re sure to have a laugh, book tickets here to see Joseph at Leeds Grand Theatre. The show runs from Tuesday 22nd – Saturday 26th March.
