The Hedonist Project launches permanent interchangeable pop-up venue
So if you were hanging around Leeds’ ‘Northern Quarter’ this summer you would likely have stumbled upon the Rum Shack pop-up snuggled between Belgrave and Blynd Tiger. The success of this venture, run by The Hedonist Project, has led to the team setting up shop in a permanent location on Lower Briggate (previously Forage Café and before that Wok On), which launches on the 27th November as a Liquor Store and Whisky Parlour.

Being the first of its kind in the U.K, this venue will bring a whole new drinking and dining concept to the City; existing as interchangeable ‘pop-up’ with the restaurant/bar’s whole image and menu being overhauled every three months with the only constant being The Hedonist Project ‘thumbprint’. Their opening pop-up will be a Liquor Store and Whisky Parlour which has predictably created much anticipation and excitement amongst Leeds’ seasoned fun seekers.

The project is the brainchild of Dan, Bruce and Tom - three experienced Leeds’ bar and hospitality experts with big names like Jake’s Bar, Smokestack, Bar Epernay and Sandinista under their belt. It’s clear that together they know the Leeds’ bar scene inside out - with Dan proclaiming his excitement to be setting up in a permanent joint in the City:

‘We've all lived in this city for the best part of a decade now and it’s safe to say we all love it. We're settled here, have great friends and genuinely believe the hospitality scene to be one of the best in the country, so when we had the opportunity to open our own place it was a no brainer really.’

The Liquor Store and Whisky Parlour will focus its efforts on stirring up some luxury whisky cocktail mixes with over 60 fine whiskies to chose from. The venture is a collaboration between The Hedonist Project and Scotch Whisky brand Diego who have teamed up to create a themed bar with an indulgent ambiance and one of the most extensive whisky offerings in the City. Each whisky will be offered by dram and particular bottles will be available to buy as take out so you can take your tipple home with you. Plus, at the weekends, in-store whisky tasting sessions will take place led by some of the world’s leading whisky ambassadors – as well as plans for liquor and food pairing dining events.

The interior of this Whisky haven will play up to Scottish heritage of Scotch with a rustic décor and cosy atmosphere. A carefully curated cocktail menu includes the Salted Caramel Rusty Nail with an accompaniment of Lagavulin fudge and The Bloody and Strand, combining Caol ILa 12, Cherry Heering and sweet vermouth and topped with an orange foam; not forgetting the Tom & Jerry winter warmer – an indulgent take on the classic egg nog. Aside from all the Whisky, their food menu offers a delicious way to line your stomach, serving brunch morning to afternoon with a small plate offering in the evenings.

This enticing and original new venue further highlights how Leeds is at the top of its game both in relation to hospitality and in leisure. As a vibrant City bursting with innovative independents, Leeds continues to throw up new and exciting dining and drinking experiences for all to enjoy. With the changing theme and vibe of the The Hedonist Project venue, Leeds will be gifted with a seasonal new drinking jaunt every three months with another transformation set to take place in March just in time for Spring.
