Leeds Trinity University Journalism and Media Week

Ellie MacDonald, Founder and MD of MacComms, a Leeds PR agency, is very pleased to have been invited to speak as part of the Journalism and Media Week at Leeds Trinity University.

Ellie will host a session for up to 80 students at the ‘Building a business to be PRoud of’ event on 5 November at 3.00 p.m.

The Journalism and Media Week runs from 4 – 7 November and is now in its 11th year. 40 industry experts will participate, coming from broadcasting, newspapers, magazines and digital media.

Ellie describes her talk as a ‘warts and all’ account of the challenges she’s faced over the last ten years.  She’ll describe the pitfalls and the positives since she set up her business in 2015.

She’s proud to have been able to support over 100 companies and to have seen some of them, as startup companies, scale up their businesses with the help of PR:  “It’s an honour to be invited to speak alongside some of the country’s leading industry experts at Leeds Trinity University’s Journalism and Media Week. With more young entrepreneurs setting up on their own, I will share my story about how I set up my firm with my last few hundred pound savings and built it into the leading Leeds agency it has become over the past four years.”

Catherine O’Connor, Head of the School of Communication, Business and Law at Leeds Trinity University adds:
“We’re delighted to welcome Ellie to Journalism and Media Week 2019, to share the story of her career with our aspiring students. Ellie is one of 40 speakers throughout the week, all as leaders within their fields, who will provide a unique insight into their roles, how to get into the industry and how to succeed once you are there. We’re looking forward to another excellent line-up to inspire and motivate our students.”
