The Social: Celebrating Ten Years With a New Look

The Brudenell’s sister bar has undergone a complete refurbishment and rebrand – and added to the celebrations when they gave away 150 free pints to returning loyal customers on reopening day on 12 April.

The Social has quietly become one of Leeds’ most popular and understated spots over the last decad,e with minimal changes since it first opened.

Nestled in the heart of the City’s arena quarter and embarking on its second decade, the bar has been transformed and updated with a modernised layout, design and furnishings. A brand new shopfront, booth-seating, classic Chesterfield sofas, an extended bar and beautiful wood-panelling has all been added to the venue to create a welcoming and timeless look. The team is working hard to keep its original appeal as a bustling city-centre bar with a classic pub feel.

Opened in 2014 by the teams behind iconic Leeds’ venues The Brudenell Social Club  and Sela Bar. The Social has become a mainstay of Leeds’ bar scene by offering a low-key and relaxed environment seven days a week, keeping its focus simply on creating a great and friendly bar experience.

The Social has community at its heart. With a revolving and carefully curated range of draught and keg lines and thoughtfully stocked back bar of wines, spirits and no/low alcohol options, it’s perfect for everything from a quiet pre-show pint before heading off to nearby venues like The Grand Theatre, First Direct Arena or Belgrave Music Hall – to long evenings of chatting and catching up with friends into the early hours.

Owner Nathan Clark with Rosie Day, General Manager outside The Social

Nathan Clark, Owner: “We’re really pleased to still be standing here with The Social ten years on and with the community that has grown around it.  We’ve been wanting to get this update and refurb done for a long-time now, and imprint some of our own character on the space, so our tenth year seemed to us like the best time to get it all under way. As with our other sites like the Brudenell or the Black Horse in Otley, our locals and regulars are the heart of the place, so maintaining its charm was really important to us, and I’m very pleased with what our team has created for the next phase of the venue. Here’s to the next ten years!”
