A Forward Bend to Healthier Wellbeing
In our sometimes frenzied days of extended hours, faster food and racing commutes to and from work there is little time set aside to stop filling your body as an empty commodity and concentrate on feeding your mind simultaneously. Increasingly, people are discovering the power that yoga has in nourishing the mind and body, de-stressing the effects of modern life.

In Leeds healthy and holistic offerings are growing, with Yoga Hero joining forces with Primal Gym, the highly anticipated arrival of a new Bikram studio opening and even Nourish bringing its healthy fast food alternative to the city’s busy residents and commuters. This weekend will now see the arrival of Leeds’ first Yoga and Wellness Festival, taking over Leeds Dock between the 31st July and 2nd August for an all-encompassing journey towards mental and physical wellbeing.

Led by Holly Mcfee of Yoga Hero, Leeds Yoga and Wellness Festival is a collation of Leeds’ most popular and progressive yoga and fitness instructors, healthy food providers, massage therapists and nutritionists, collaborating to provide their expertise. The three-day festival will take complete beginners and yogi fanatics alike through a series of meditation techniques and forms of yoga, whilst also feeding the mind with lectures on nutrition and anatomy, understanding the philosophy behind the practice. Reflecting on what we put in as well as put out the ticket also includes juices, nibbles and detoxing food including catering from the delectable residents of Munro House, Café 164. As well as leaving with your bellies nourished, Laura Thompson PHD will be providing insightful knowledge into nutrition to take away with you, having over twelve years as a nutritionist and boasting an understanding of the wacky science behind what we eat.

Holly Mcfee of Yoga Hero, talked of the thought behind bringing the festival to the city, “The demand for yoga in Leeds is huge, and expanding rapidly. It’s great to see how many are seeing the benefits of yoga, both mental and physical. This amazing festival is a response to this growing demand - to show Leeds all the different types of health and fitness independents available, right on our doorstep.”

There is no requirement to have practiced yoga before, be able to touch your toes, or bend over backwards! Ultimately Leeds Yoga and Wellness Festival is set to bring some inner-calm into our over-stimulated lives, which Holly promises will leave you with “Increased knowledge of the body and mind, a feeling of total yoga calm, friends, full bellies and wonderfulness!”.

Leeds Yoga & Wellness Festival will be held from 31st July to the 2nd August at Leeds Dock. Tickets can be purchased as day tickets or a full weekend ticket for £120 and includes food and a goody bag. You can see the full timetable and book your ticket here.
