It's Tea Time in Leeds
With a growing number of venues in Leeds offering fresh and delicious afternoon tea, indulging in a three tiered feast has never been so inviting. A quintessential British way to spend an afternoon, the tradition began in the 19th Century in the wealthy upper class society and even today, it is still regarded as a lavish treat. So for those seeking an hour or two of the genteel life, make sure you stop by at one of the following venues to satisfy that desire for sophistication and a little self-indulgence.

42 The Calls Afternoon Tea

If afternoon tea in style is what you're after, then there's no better place than CREAMS. With an ethos of 'sophistication and elegance, with a touch of finesse', here you can enjoy beautifully presented food in stunning surroundings. Offering not just one but three varieties of Afternoon Tea – British, Eastern and Arabian - all including a large selection of sandwiches, cakes and pastries and of course a pot of English Breakfast Blend tea if you choose, there is something to suit literally everyone's taste buds. With an old fashioned grand piano, and a huge crystal chandelier along with marble counters, this is luxury all over.

42 The Calls

A four star boutique hotel overlooking the River Aire, 42 The Calls not only provides a gorgeous room with a view but it also offers an amazing afternoon tea, perfect for that special occasion. Formerly an 18th Century corn mill, the hotel is quaint and homely – the perfect setting to sit back and treat yourself. Their afternoon tea with a wide selection of finger sandwiches, warm scones, homemade cakes and a variety of teas is sure to leave you feeling content. Fancy a bit more of a treat? Kick back, relax and add a glass of fizz for a classy afternoon.

Arch Cafe

Escape the hustle and bustle of the city centre with afternoon tea at Arch Cafe. Hidden away in the Bradbury Building and head office of Age UK Leeds, Arch Cafe has a unique spot situated in St Johns Yard. Serving afternoon tea from 2.30pm on Friday and Saturday, this is the perfect destination to celebrate the weekend. Offering delicious traditional afternoon tea, which includes a selection of sandwiches, homemade scones with jam, homemade cakes and a pot of tea, the cafe works with the best local and independent suppliers to provide the public with seasonal and responsibly sourced food. Known as a cafe with a social conscience; all profits go directly to Age UK, meaning self-indulgence without the guilt!

Just Grand Vintage Tea Room

Step back in time at Just Grand Vintage Tea Room. Located in Grand Arcade, this quirky place offers afternoon tea with a bit of a difference. You can either opt for the more traditional sandwiches, unusually delicious flavoured scones, Yorkshire tea or a glass of Brut or Prosecco, or you can try their Gentlemen's Afternoon Tea. Of course, not just for the men in our lives but also for anyone who fancies a less fancy but still just as tasty alternative, this option includes pork pie, crisps and either pale ale or bitter. With their gorgeous yet unusual décor, here you can indulge in a unique 50s style setting.

Filmore & Union

Healthy afternoon tea? Oh yes, it exists at Filmore & Union. Sit in the glamorous surroundings of Victoria Quarter whilst tucking into delicious fresh and high quality food sourced from local suppliers. Instead of your usual traditional treats, you'll leave here feeling super energised with their savoury canapes on malted rye bread, their selection of freshly juiced health shots and of course a selection of delicate home baked cakes served with fresh fruit and Greek yoghurt, because what afternoon tea is complete without cake? Accompany your afternoon delights with either a selection of teas or a glass of prosecco for fine dining. A cool and stylish healthy eatery, Filmore & Union is the perfect place to treat yourself without the guilt.

Whether it's for a special occasion, a catch up with friends or you just fancy spending your afternoon in true British style, these delicious venues will sort you right out.
