Leeds Waterfront Photography Competition
Head down to Leeds Dock on Friday 26th June for The Leeds Waterfront Festival Opening Party. Set to be a hive of activity, the party kicks off the weekend revelry surrounding all things watery. The festival celebrates the distinct part that the water front -which quietly snakes around the city- plays in Leeds living. Friday marks a more relaxed start to the festivities with a complimentary glass of Pimms (or beer/soft drinks if that doesn’t tickle your fancy) to welcome you in, a Pop up Bar and a whole host of street food vendors including Mr Brown’s Soul Kitchen when you can get stuck into authentic soul food and All the tea & China for a more delicate bite to eat.

Waterfront Festival 2014 Photography Winner

Leeds Waterfront Festival is also sunny side up on the weather front and have also organised a BBQ just in case the tempting street food doesn’t quite fill you up. Embracing true British Summertime spirit, alongside the BBQ and Pimms will be music, table tennis, beer pong and other games to get the festival feeling going.

The event will also most importantly be where the winners of The Leeds Waterfront Photography Competition. The competition centres on capturing the spirit of the various waterfronts and walkways that we use everyday without thinking about, or perhaps are a well kept secret waiting to be discovered. If you’re an amateur photographer and fancy a go then you still have time to enter! There are two age categories for under and over 16’s and the following categories for entries:

Under 16’s: Best Wildlife Photography ‘Connections’- a theme which you can have a bit of artistic licence with! Heart of Leeds Waterway Heart of Bradford Waterway

Over 16’s: The Future Face of the Waterfront Best Wildlife ‘Connections’ Heart of Leeds Waterway Heart of Bradford Waterway

An overall winner will also be picked from these categories. The best work will be digitally displayed at Leeds Dock, open to the public and of course there are some fabulous prizes alongside the fame!

The deadline for entries is 5pm on Friday 19th June, submit your entries to LeedsWaterfrontFestival@gmail.com with PHOTO COMP in the subject bar. Make sure you include your contact details, including your phone number and age and parent/guardian’s details if you are under 16. Only digital entries will be judged.
