New Year’s Eve is the biggest night of the year and there’s no excuse to stay in with the wide range of events on offer in Leeds this year. We’ve rounded up the best events to see you into 2016.

For a Party

The Duke Does NYE

Get your glitter out and head to Duke Studios, Sheaf St this December 31st. The event promises to ‘blend the best bits of a house party and the best bits of a club’, so there’s bound to be a great atmosphere. Expect the unexpected and a massive countdown all set in the Victorian Warehouse. Tickets are £17 on early bird (so move fast!) or £25 after that and the price includes two drinks!

Beaverworks Steampunk Armageddon

If you want a crazy one this NYE, head to Beaverworks for MOOD SWINGS presents Steampunk Armageddon. Get creative with the costumes for Post Apocalyptic Neo-Victorian Madness. There’ll be a prize, including tickets to their next event for the best costume. With an impressive line-up of Ska, Reggae, Jungle and Hip Hop music don’t miss out on the madness. Tickets are £10 on earlybird and £15 after that.

Mission - Love Leeds NYE

For the best in house music and to party past dawn the only option is Mission. The club is opening all six arches and there’s a 24 strong line-up. This is the 10th year for Mission’s NYE party so they must be doing something right! The party starts at 10pm and the club promises to remain open till 10am. Tickets are £20 or £40 for a VIP booth.

Double Denim Live Presents: New Year’s Eve Party – The Verve

With the promise of opening until 4am (and maybe even ‘till 6am!), if you’re wanting a long one on NYE then head down to The Verve, they won’t disappoint. They have a line-up of live music headlined by Carvella, including the likes of The Escapades, The Potenzas and Luke Kelly as well as Double Denim Live DJs blasting out hit after hit. It’s free entry plus a free shot of tequila for the first 30 people downstairs, don’t miss it!

New Year ’15 on Call Lane

Can’t decide on one place this New Year’s Eve? Well Call Lane is always buzzing, and NYE won’t be any different. Join Jake’s Bar, Oporto, Neon Cactus, Norman Bar and Black Swan for their annual bar crawl, where it’s free entry with DJs and other events at each bar! There’s just one question…where will you be on the big countdown?

Candypants – Oracle

If you’re planning to be on a mad one on the big night, then you can’t go wrong with Candypants’ party at Oracle. Starting with a champagne reception at 9pm, prepare to dance the night away into the early hours! Tickets are £15 for early bird and £20 standard advanced.

NYE with Fatman Scoop – Tiger Tiger

If you fancy a bit of nostalgia with your NYE this year, then Tiger Tiger is the place to go. Fatman Scoop is there to entertain you into the early hours, playing all his top hits while you gorge on the festive food they have to offer. Whether you want to tackle their five course feast or just sample a few bar snacks, you can’t deny that Fatman Scoop will guarantee you’ll be laughing all the way into 2016!

Prohibition Party at Chilli White

Celebrating with a nod to the times of speakeasies, gangters and flappers, Chilli White are throwing a Prohibition Party this NYE. With three floors of rnb, hip hop, chart hits and house music, you’ll also be wowed by their additions to the cocktail menu and stilt walkers! Entry is only £8, so get yourself down there.

Drake vs Kanye Party – Headrow House

Headrow House is helping you to answer the question that no one quite seems to be able to decide on…Drake or Kanye? Playing these music gods’ tunes as well as tracks by Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Jay-Z and many more until 4am, the two might not be making an entrance, but they’ll be there in spirit!

For a classy one

Royal Armouries Museum Masquerade Ball

The NYE experience of a lifetime can be found at the Royal Armouries. The annual ball gives you the chance to welcome in the New Year in style. Walk down the red carpet and take advantage of the fully stocked bar. A sumptuous three-course meal is served before the party really kicks off. There are big screens to count in the New Year and the party will go on till 2am. Tickets are £69.95 and include the banquet and a glass of sparkling wine on arrival.

Leeds Town Hall - Viennese Whirl

Fancy dancing your way into 2016? Leeds Town Hall is hosting the Viennese Whirl this year, and with a live orchestra there’s no excuse not to hit the dancefloor. John Rigby is conducting the magnificent Opera North Orchestra with soprano Jennifer France. For classical music lovers this event is not to be missed. You can even take the kids. It starts at 3pm and at midnight there’ll be a free glass of prosecco (or orange juice!) Tickets range from £10-£30.

For a chilled one

Friends of Ham

Friends of Ham has fast become one of Leeds’s favourite bars. Their unique event to kick off the New Year is the Hammy Hogmanay. With live music from the Backyard Burners, mulled cider and a selection of fine ham and cheese, the Hogmanay is sure to be a chilled way to enter 2016. The £30 ticket price includes all this and a glass of prosecco at midnight!

Belgrave Music Hall

For a cheaper NYE, go to Belgrave’s Hip Hop Pizza Party. Back after last year’s success, the event is sure to be just as brilliant. There’s free pizza (free!) between 8 and 9pm. Both floors will be open playing some great mixes of HipHop and RNB. Did we mention it’s free entry?!

Leeds City Stompers - The Wardrobe

Entertaining Leeds since 2011, the Leeds City Stompers are bringing in the New Year at the Wardrobe this year. Their unique mix of swing, blues, folk and rock and roll will say goodbye to 2015 with a bang. In the cool setting of The Wardrobe, home to the legendary bar and Soul Kitchen, the event is certain to be one to remember. Tickets will be available from The Wardrobe website.

New Year’s Eve @ The Bridge

If you’re looking to get out of the City Centre this New Year’s Eve, then the Kirkstall Bridge Inn is having its own do. The folks down there are keeping it simple with great beer, a fireworks display and a Hawaiin-themed buffet! Tickets are a tenner, available from the bar. For those who haven’t been – it makes a great local, so why not try it out this NYE!

Comedy Session Special - HiFi

If you’d like to leave 2015 behind with laughs, there’s no better place than at HiFi. It might not be the traditional way to spend NYE but HiFi’s stand-up evening promises to be a memorable one. Welcoming Alun Cochrane, Andrew Ryan and Alex Boardman, you’re bound to chuckle your way into 2016. Tickets are online for £22.50.
