At the beginning of August, Club Insure launched its search for the best photograph to represent Yorkshire. The closing date for submissions is 31 August.
Entries for Yorkshire Portraits must represent communities and clubs in Yorkshire. Winners will feature in a digital photography album, with a view to producing a print version to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.
Club Insure has been working with clubs and community venues for over 20 years from its base in Leeds. The company’s marketing team have already taken some shots of some venues to start things off, but other photographers are being made welcome to submit their own. Think quirky characters, inspiring stories and revealing histories.
Submit up to 5 photographs along with the stories of the characters featured, and complete the entry form provided. Capture the essence of the individuals and recognise the challenges faced by clubs and communities, both recently and in the past. It’s a way of turning the spotlight on these traditional places to help protect them.
Club Insure’s three-year partnership with Prostate Cancer UK is partly in support of Associate Director Lloyd Pinder, who has been diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer. The inspirational sports fan and staunch Yorkshireman will also feature in the volume as the true epitome of brave, determined and characterful Yorkshire spirit.
Lloyd said: “Fellow Yorkshire people will share my pride of God’s Own County. Community spirit runs throughout the region, and I’m proud to be part of a photography series that celebrates this and raises money for such an important cause.”
Prostate Cancer UK Senior Head of Fundraising Gabriella Bailey said: “Lloyd is one of around 400,000 men who are living with or after a prostate cancer diagnosis, and that number keeps rising with diagnosis in the Yorkshire and Humber region rising by 63 per cent in the past 10 years. Now, for the first time ever, it has become the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the UK. We’re so grateful for the continued support of Club Insure and look forward to seeing this exciting pictorial project celebrating all that’s great about Yorkshire, and it’s wonderful that proceeds of the book will help support men and their loved ones.”
