Seacroft Green: Raising Cash For Worthy Causes

All you need is love! Leeds care home Seacroft Green has raised over £1,000 for charities from the home’s ‘Grand Finale’ community coffee morning.

The care home brought the local community together for four causes, collecting £1,308 as it held a month-long ‘Love in The Community’ campaign, strengthening connections and championing diversity.

Throughout July’s Pride Month, the home was a hive of activity, hosting fundraising raffles, tombolas and pop-up shops. It also gave the community opportunities to get creative at arts and crafts sessions and show off singing talents during karaoke.

The total amount team members, residents, local businesses and the community raised has been donated to The Seacroft Social Services Emergency Fund, LGBTQ+ charity Out Together and children’s bed charity Zarach, alongside food donations collected for St Richard’s Church food bank.

Sam Enright, Wellbeing Team Lead at Seacroft Green: “Leeds Pride represents so much more than colourful celebrations and drag performers; it is about love, acceptance, diversity, belonging and togetherness. This campaign demonstrated that care homes can play a much bigger role within their local communities.

By opening our doors, celebrating diversity and encouraging collaboration, we created opportunities for residents to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds while supporting causes that genuinely improve lives.”

Mar Bitor, Home Manager: “Love in the Community has been a huge success. We have enjoyed welcoming volunteers, local businesses and the wider community to Seacroft Green.

The residents are at the heart of everything we do, and we are thrilled to have established the home as a true community hub, where residents and the public can come together and support one another.

This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to see how much Love in the Community can grow next year.”

Seacroft Green provides full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable residents to lead active and fulfilling lives, there is plenty of space – both in and outdoors – for relaxation and recreation.
