Wetherby’s creative heart will be on show later this month as Artists Around Wetherby Open Studios returns to the town.
Art and creativity flourish not just in Yorkshire’s big cities, but in its quiet corners and market towns, too. This summer, Artists Around Wetherby Open Studios invites art lovers, collectors and the simply curious, to experience just that.

On the weekends of 21-22 and 28-29 June, 27 talented artists and makers will open the doors of their studios and workspaces in and around the beautiful market town of Wetherby, set between Leeds, Harrogate and York. Visitors can explore a wide range of original arts and high quality crafts — from contemporary painting and mixed media to ceramics, textiles, jewellery and more — all whilst meeting the artists behind the work.

Launched in 2014, Artists Around Wetherby Open Studios offers a rare opportunity to step inside the creative spaces usually hidden from view, to watch demonstrations at selected venues and to purchase or commission work directly from the artist. As part of this year’s event, refreshments will be available at venues in return for a donation to Yorkshire Cancer Research. Visitors can enjoy a drink or a cake – and even the occasional scoop of ice cream – all in support of a local good cause.

The Open Studios trail is free to explore and a downloadable map is available to help plan your route, as well as leaflets in local businesses or available on the trail, which will be highlighted by orange signs and bunting.
Whether you are a seasoned collector, a fellow artist seeking inspiration, or simply looking for a wonderful day out, this event is a celebration of local creativity and the artistic spirit thriving in this small corner of Yorkshire.
