Smart Works Leeds is Having a Sale

The Corn Exchange will be the home for the Summer Fashion Sale being organised by Smart Works Leeds, the charity for unemployed Yorkshire women.

Those sought-after high street brands and designer labels will be up for grabs at bargain prices, and all for a good cause. The charity dresses and coaches women who are not employed, to help them prepare for job interviews, and the many rails of fashionwear have been generously donated by the designer names and brands to support the charity and the event.

In association with The Yorkshire Post, the two day event will take place on 24 June from 6 pm until 9pm, then on 25 June from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Guest Evening

Friday 24 June will be a special evening of shopping, offering the chance to browse the rails and snap up a bargain or three – clothes, shoes, accessories and cosmetics, including pop-up stalls only there for one evening. Entry is by ticket (£7.50)

All Day Sale Event

Saturday 25 June is when shoppers will see new stock being dropped off so that no-one is short of a bargain. Tickets are £5 per person.

Tickets are available here: [email protected] or you can use the link below.

Smart Works Leeds opened at Mabgate Mills in Leeds in November 2019 and has so far helped hundreds of women in Yorkshire find work, despite the challenges of Covid-1. The charity helps women who are vulnerable or in financial need enter or re-enter the workplace by supporting them with free smart clothing and expert, confidence-building, one-to-one coaching for their job interview. Clients are referred from job centres or from partner referrers, including the prison service and organisations and charities for care leavers, the homeless, refugees, and survivors of addiction and domestic abuse.

Over 40 volunteer dressers and interview coaches work at the Leeds centre, with a range of appropriate experience and backgrounds needed to help provide the best preparation possible.

Chair of Smart Works Leeds, Helen Oldham: “We offer unemployed women in West Yorkshire, and beyond, the knowledge that they are backed and supported by our team. Every month since we first opened, the number of women we help has been growing.”

Smart Works has the support of many prestigious names in the fashion and beauty industry, with retail partners including Burberry, John Lewis & Partners, Marks & Spencer, Hobbs and Bobbi Brown Cosmetics.
