A Leeds Charity Has Something to Smile About

Learning Partnerships, based in Harehills, Leeds, is celebrating after receiving £488,473 from The National Lottery Community Fund for their Single Parent Power Project.

No wonder Rudolphe Solentini, CEO of Learning Partnerships, is so happy:

The Single Parent Power Project will use the money to support and empower 228 single parent families in East Leeds to improve their confidence, health and wellbeing and address any barriers they may have, enabling individuals to move towards employment.

Each family will have a dedicated Key Worker who will work with them on a one to one basis whilst also encouraging them to take part in group activities aimed at improving their wellbeing and employability skills. There will also be a qualified counsellor available, who will offer individual and group sessions around mental health and wellbeing.

National Lottery players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK. The National Lottery Community Fund distributes a share of this to projects to support people and communities to prosper and thrive.

In 2020, The National Lottery Community Fund distributed almost £1 billion to charities and community organisations across the UK during the pandemic.

Rudolphe Solentini: “Thanks to National Lottery players, this grant means that we can continue to support families in our area to increase their skills and knowledge, improve confidence, health and wellbeing and contribute to building and strengthening the local community. This funding will make a big difference to people’s lives.”
