Sue Ryder Grief Kind: in Leeds on Friday 1 March

Sue Ryder will be holding a community pop-up event this week to share information on its Grief Kind Spaces in the Leeds area.

The event will take place at Crossgates Shopping Centre from 9.30am until 4pm on Friday 1 March.

The national palliative care and bereavement charity, which runs Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice in Headingley, currently provides two Grief Kind Spaces in Leeds, offering people aged 18 and over free, informal peer-to-peer bereavement support to tackle grief, loneliness and isolation.

Tracy Brierley, the Grief Kind Spaces Coordinator for Yorkshire, with support from four trained volunteers, will be on hand at the event to talk to people about the service, and to provide leaflets and resources.

Tracy: “The pop-up information event aims to promote Grief Kind Spaces and generate awareness to people across Leeds by explaining what the spaces offer to people who are grieving. They offer a safe, supportive environment for people to come together to share their experiences of grief, reducing isolation and helping people feel heard and less alone.

This will be a great opportunity to give Grief Kind Spaces a visible presence in the community and allow direct community engagement. We will promote the Grief Kind Spaces that are already up and running in the City and encourage people to attend the groups to access support, to ensure our reach in the community increases so more and more people can attend the sessions as we develop more Grief Kind Spaces across the City and across Yorkshire.”

The Sue Ryder Grief Kind Space at the Village Hotel North, 186 Otley Road, Leeds takes place every Monday, from 10am to 12 noon.

The Sue Ryder Grief Kind Space at John Lewis takes place every Thursday, from 5pm until 7pm at the John Lewis Community Hub, 4th Floor, Victoria Gate, Harewood St, Leeds, LS2 7AR.

The pop-up event will be located near Iceland in Crossgates Shopping Centre and will run from 9.30am until 4pm.
