The Elliot James Bransby Memorial Shield is an annual fundraising initiative that has been created to honour Elliot, who passed away very unexpectedly in November 2019.
The celebrity-loaded football event is staged to raise funds for local charities. Although it is not a registered charity, everyone associated with The EJB Memorial Shield is a volunteer, dedicated, as David Bransby, Elliot’s father says: “…. to keep Elliot’s wonderful name alive and his beautiful memory buoyant.”
The small EJB Memorial Shield team is dedicated to and passionate about raising funds in Elliot’s name, giving their time freely for the benefit of others. After expenses incurred to stage the event, every penny is donated to Leeds-based and registered charities.
The 2nd annual event took place on 21 July, anticipated to have raised just over £14,000. After expenses, the net sum to be donated will be in the region of £8,500.
Decisions are currently being made about the Shield’s 2025 charities. Fundraising activities will resume in the coming months, and, David assures us, these don’t stop until the final whistle is blown at the end of the next star-studded football event.
