Dating in Disguise at Tailors Speakeasy on 13 February

It’s the eve of Valentine’s Day and if you’re looking for love, Tailors Speakeasy’s Dating in Disguise may well be your answer!

Dating in Disguise is a new speed dating experience, with a difference: you pick up a mask, set aside your doubts and let your personality shine through.  It’ll be your charm, not your face, which will take you through an evening filled with fun and with the prospect of romance.

There’ll be team games, dares, challenges and trivia – as well as two rounds of speed dating, all devised to avoid that ‘What do I say next?’ dilemma.

The event, from 6 – 9 p.m., is being run by Matthew Wignall and Jamila Juma-Ware, who themselves met on Tinder more than 5 years ago.  They’re no strangers, therefore to the dating game, and Jamila is enthusiastic:

”Anyone who’s been in before will know we love to inspire conversation, fun and laughter – through a relaxed atmosphere, and vintage costume – which is definitely a conversation starter!   Nothing gets people speaking like a little laughter. We love giving people the opportunity to be a little silly and just have some good old fashioned fun!

Dressing-up at Tailors gets groups chatting to others, and by the end of the night people are chatting like they’ve known each other for years – when in fact they only met a few hours earlier, over the exchange of a top hat or a flapper dress!   So we thought, why not apply the same recipe for love? That’s where we came up with the concept for Dating in Disguise.”

On arrival, you’ll be served a love potion cocktail or a soft drink if you prefer.  You can retreat to the secret love note corner to leave someone a message, and you can take advantage of the vintage costume rail to add to your disguise.

All that’s left to do is relax and enjoy the evening, which ends with dancing – in case you want to impress with those moves.

Dress code is ‘fancy’ (you have a lover to woo after all!). Doors open at 6pm, for the ticket only event. Tickets include Love Potion cocktail on arrival, masquerade mask and a good time. Limited places remain:
