Leeds Gigs Coming Up: July – September 2019

Festival Fever to one side, we thought we’d let you know which bands are coming to some of our favourite Leeds venues this summer:

John Newman  The Brudenell  9 July

A distinctive voice with 3 number 1 singles, John has changed direction.  After travelling the world, he is going back to his musical roots and will be performing at smaller venues which will allow him to connect more closely with his fans.

#360RAW9  The Lending Room  12 July

Richard Watson, promoter at Leeds 360 Club, and Alan Raw, presenter of BBC Introducing in West Yorkshire, have revealed the lineup for their next showcase of raw and emerging talent, which will feature the following 4 Leeds acts:

Pizza For The People  Hyde Park Book Club  17 August  

The next in this Leeds promoters long-running series of indie banquets – a combined celebration of food and new music, will include:

LD Moses hailing from Leeds

The Shakamoto Investigation – a Leeds trio

Autosuggestion – a four piece from Hull

Talk Show from South London

Egyption Blue who are based in Brighton.

Co-founder Ryan Morgan said: “Indie Banquet XIV is a line-up that we are incredibly excited about, with lots of upcoming talent on the bill. Bringing not one but two Yala Records releases to the bill, Talk Show & Egyptian Blue are joined by a host of local gems – L.D Moses, The Shakamoto Investigation & Autosuggestion, and promises to be a great night of music to whet any appetite.” 

Pixies  Academy  17 September

Pixies have announced their new album, Beneath The Eyrie, which will be released worldwide on 13 September, to coincide with the start of their UK tour.  The first track from the album, On Graveyard Hill, is available to listen to here:

No Hot Ashes Oporto  18 September

This Stockport band’s extra-terrestrial debut LP Hardship Starship will be released on 16 August.   No Hot Ashes’ UK tour will take place in September and October..

Mabel  First Direct Arena 22 September

Mabel’s debut album will be released on 2 August and her single, Mad Love, is already available. Her recent single Don’t Call Me Up reached No.3 in the UK and the top ten globally.

City Calm Down  The Brudenell  27 September

The band, a Melbourne four-piece has released the first track from their forthcoming third album due out later this year.  You can listen to Television here.

Ferris and Sylvester  The Wardrobe  29 September

 Their debut headline tour sold out earlier this year and they are set to appear at Glastonbury as part of their festival-filled summer.  The duo also recently released their harmony lead track, Flying Visit.
