In the heart of Leeds, North Home, a haven for home enthusiasts, offers a beautifully curated selection of home interior treasures. From stylish furnishings to unique Scandinavian pieces, the space is a celebration of thoughtful design and timeless aesthetics.

I recently had the pleasure of attending their Spring Showcase, an inspiring event hosted by designer Siobhan Murphy. The evening was a vibrant celebration of seasonal trends, creativity and the joy of home styling, ultimately bringing together like-minded design lovers in a truly stunning setting.

Stepping into the shop, I was immediately met with a stunning display of homeware unlike any I had seen before, with each piece being carefully chosen and placed to exude both beauty and individuality. I was immediately captivated by HKLiving’s 70s-inspired ceramics. Their rich colours, bold patterns and textured finishes brought a sense of nostalgia while feeling effortlessly modern and suited to the shop.

Something that’s hard to miss as you walk in, is an incredible wall of candles, a striking display of hand dipped beauties in a stunning array of shades from Ester & Erik. These expertly curated pieces set a tone of excitement to see what else the shop has to offer.
With a glass of prosecco in hand, I was able to take a look through the four-storey space, uncovering the collections that make North Home so special.
Starting on floor -1, it was dedicated to beautiful kitchenware and was a standout, blending Nordic homewares with modern kitchen comforts and premium ingredients. The Nicolas Vahé culinary collection particularly caught my eye, elevating everyday kitchen essentials into stylish, must-have pieces you want in your cupboard. As the evening unfolded, Siobhan introduced North Home’s passionate owners, Simon Hawkins and Kamil Wangin, who shared their journey in creating this dream space and their vision for the future of their shop and the desirable homeware within it.

Throughout the evening, the Harvey Nichols team treated guests to a selection of exquisite canapés from their latest menu, complementing the sleek yet rustic ambiance of the basement. The setting was effortlessly chic, leaving a lasting impression on the many design enthusiasts in attendance.

Floor 1 was a stunning takeover by HKLiving and 366 Concept, featuring a thoughtfully designed selection of mid-century designs and bespoke creations. As the largest showroom in the UK dedicated to showcasing HKLiving furniture, it offered an opportunity to experience the pieces in person, far beyond what online images can convey. The space itself displayed a warm, homely feel, with every detail arranged to create a welcoming atmosphere. Fluffy rugs and soft cushions added a cosy touch, while pops of vibrant colour brought life to the room. It was a space that invited you to truly immerse yourself in the designs, feel their textures and appreciate the craftsmanship on display.
Reaching the top floor, you’re met with bold, extravagant designs where every piece is a statement, grasping your attention. The space embodied a daring, artistic flair and was perfectly summed up by Lynette Tominey, a North Home employee who oversees the fourth floor, with her own words being “it’s like Marmite- you either love it or you hate it.” I absolutely loved it. The vibrant colours, rich textures and fearless creativity made this floor a standout. At its heart is Seletti, the iconic Italian brand known for its pop art-inspired homeware. Renowned for pushing the boundaries of design, Seletti fuses functionality with whimsy, creating pieces that feel more like art than décor. The standout creation on this floor was the giant illuminated crescent moon rocking chair, a perfect showcase of the brand’s mastery of lightwork and their commitment to unique, imaginative pieces.

As the evening came to a close, it was clear that North Home offers more than just a shopping experience: it’s a celebration of design and community. From the stunning pieces that adorned every floor, to the engaging conversations with the passionate team behind it all, it was a night where the creativity of many was excellently showcased. The blend of art, style and innovative homeware made the Spring Showcase a memorable experience. It was a reminder of how design can transform a space and spark joy in the little moments throughout your day.
