Rock n Roll Pantomime at City Varieties from 29 November

Children are invited to bring their adults with them to Red Riding Hood, this year’s rock n roll pantomime to be staged at City Varieties Music Hall from 29 November to 12 January.

Ian Sime, General Manager at the Music Hall, said: “Our Rock ’n’ Roll Pantos have been extremely popular since they were first introduced in 2011.  They have grown year on year and have now become a Christmas tradition for families in Leeds and beyond. Red Riding Hood is a brand-new production from the enchanted pen of Peter Rowe and we are very excited to showcase it at The Varieties.”

For those of you who haven’t seen a rock n roll pantomime before, they’re a mix of the traditional with the contemporary – so you can enjoy participating – hiss, cheer, shout and scream –  and the corny jokes, mixed with chart-toppers and classic rock anthems, performed live by super talented actor-musicians.

Book online at cityvarieties.co.uk or call Box Office on 0113 243 08 08.

Cautionary note:  There’ll be loud bangs, a barrage of ‘boulders’, live music, smoke effects and flashing lights, so it is not recommended for children under 4 years of age.  The performances lasts 2.5 hours including a 20 minute interval.

For schools:  Theatrical workshops, based upon the traditions of Pantomime, are available for KS1 or KS2. The lively sessions will help pupils explore the different characters within the story, as well as the chance to create one of their own. Directly linked to literacy skills on the curriculum, it will make their visit to the theatre even more valuable and memorable.
