Update – Donate a Coat

We thought you’d like to know the outcome of Accent’s recent charity event, inviting the people of Leeds to donate an old coat for homeless charity Simon on The Streets.

Accent Clothing partnered with Nobis, an outdoor fashion brand, to do something to help those for whom warmth really is a luxury at this time of year.

The result?  Over 400 winter coats were donated and distributed – and £1,300 was raised from a raffle, which include a Nobis 2020 winter coat, donated by Robin Yates, founder of Nobis.  Robin also gave away Nobis scarves to the first 100 people to turn up with a coat to donate.

Sian Gabbidon, Apprentice winner 2018 and Leeds United’s Barry Douglas and Tyler Roberts, along with featherweight boxing champion Josh Warrington, were there to show their support.

PBR Streetgang DJ Tom Thorpe provided the entertainment, Slingsby’s Gin and Dollhouse distributed complimentary drinks and free haircuts were available by Barber B from Piranha Hair StudiosDickeybow Boutique were on hand to offer makeovers.

It was a particularly fitting event for Simon on The Streets, who are celebrating their 20th birthday this year.  Their work for the rough sleepers in Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield includes not only practical but also emotional support for the homeless.

Simon on the Streets CEO, Eric Richardson, said:

“Christmas is known as a magical time of year but for those on the streets it can be particularly difficult, so we really appreciate the support from Accent Clothing and Nobis through their fundraising event. We’d also like to thank the guests who attended and helped collect hundreds of coats for those in need.”
