Bruncho made their name in Manchester for opening up new culinary experiences for diners looking for something original. The people of Leeds are now discovering all that Bruncho has to offer.
There’s a warm, calming vibe about the place, a deep contrast with the City streets on the other side of those tall, arched windows. They provide the light to contrast with dark floors, whereas the plants and artwork add the colour and interest to the space. It’s a good feel.
We turn our attention – and appreciation – to the superbly well presented dishes that offer a taste sensation – sweet and savoury all at once, yet creating a pleasing harmony in the mouth.
Our choices were pistachio and kinder French toast, cappuccino and halloumi roll burger.
The French toast was generously served with fresh berries, pistachios and an upended ice cream cone.
We were presented with the now time-honoured work of art which is a cappuccino, not remarkable in itself, but it’s well worth mentioning the smart standard of service achieved by Bruncho staff – pleasant, attentive, yet without that sense of intrusion or urgency.
My final word has to be about the counter, where your eyes can linger on the well-crafted pastries and take in the variety. I was already hatching a plan for my next visit. It’s that kind of place.
