Give a tin of food and receive a free cocktail at The Alchemist

The Alchemist has teamed up with Grey Goose and social enterprise Foodinate to raise awareness of increasing food poverty.

According to the Trussell Trust., there has been an increase in the number of people relying on food banks over the last few months, and a further increase is expected over Christmas.

Now in its 2nd year, The Swap Shop initiative encourages people to bring in a non-perishable food item in return for a free cocktail. Obviously, larger donations are welcome and all donations will be delivered to Raise – St Anne’s Community Service.

The Alchemist Trinity and Greek Street will accept food items throughout the day and will be respecting distancing measures by offering a takeaway cocktail for those unable to enjoy in the venue.

The Alchemist offers all day dining and a theatrical drinks menu. Last year, the Swap Shop initiative collected over 3,000 donations. When guests order any menu items flagged with the Foodinate fork logo, a hot meal will be provided to someone in need in the local community. 65,000 meals have so far been provided.

Hannah Plumb, Culture and Talent Director at The Alchemist:

“We love the work carried out by Foodinate. It’s a truly fantastic initiative, tackling food poverty across the country, which is an issue we’re passionate about at The Alchemist. The Swap Shop is a fun and engaging way to encourage customers to donate to their local food banks, who need our support now more than ever.”
