The Tetley is Back – With Some Changes

Following re-design and re-assessment to ensure the safety of all staff and visitors under COVID-19 procedures, the Tetley is re-opening.

The art spaces re-opened on Friday 7 August and both the art spaces and the Bar & Kitchen will open on Wednesdays to Sundays from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.

The galleries have relaunched with two exhibitions – Taus Makhacheva: Hold Your Horses, and Emii Alrai: The High Dam

The charity behind the Tetley’s art spaces, Project Space Leeds, was awarded Arts Council emergency funding last week, drawn from a fund which was set up in May this year to combat the adverse impact of COVID-19. This ensures that The Tetley can continue its role in the Leeds art scene – creating a platform for emerging artists, providing wonderful free exhibitions for all, and helping young creative people in Leeds.

Rob Kaye, previously Head Chef of Leeds restaurant Stockdales, had only just been appointed Head Chef at The Tetley when lockdown called everything to a halt. Now, Rob is revamping the menu and adding his own flair to some Tetley favourites, prioritising local, quality and seasonal produce. The menu has been honed down, although there will be vegetarian and vegan options and the ever welcome Sunday roasts. Customers will look at the menu and pay for their food through their own device. The Tetley will be operating cash-free as a safety precaution.

There is also a unique Private Dining service, available by booking the grand Tetley Boardroom for private dinner parties for a truly special experience.

During August, each Wednesday The Tetley will take part in the Eat Out To Help scheme, as they encourage people to try the new menu and welcome them back.

Tetley @ HomeThe Tetley remains committed to delivering art in alternative ways for those who are shielding, or choosing not to return to public spaces and venues just yet. This includes our Virtual Tours, and our Tiny Tetley @ Home digital series of at-home activities for the smaller art lovers out there.

Bryony, Artistic Director: We are delighted to announce that our doors are opening once again and we look forward to welcoming everyone back. We’ve been working hard to ensure that your visit is safe and relaxed, and that you’re able to make full use of our fantastic building to accommodate social distancing throughout.

Every penny that is  spent at The Tetley helps us as a charity, allowing us to support the artists of the future and finance creative development and opportunity for young people in our community. We need the support of our audiences and friends more than ever before.

You can support us by naming a ‘T’ for our display wall, or even by stopping by and having a drink or booking a meal in one of our new private dining rooms.

I’d also like to thank Arts Council England, Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, Leeds City Council, and Carlsberg UK, without whose support we simply wouldn’t have been able to reopen.”

Sam, Head of Food and Beverages: “We are very excited to welcome back the communities of Leeds to The Tetley. Our aim has been to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all, and we have definitely achieved that.
Head Chef, Rob Kaye, has worked incredibly hard on a new Daily Menu, including some Tetley favourites and a host of new dishes which can be shared. We can’t wait for our visitors to try it.”
