Flamenco Comes to Leeds!

The award-winning Daniel Martinez Flamenco Company visits Leeds for the first time by invitation of the Instituto Cervantes.

Art of Believing, a vibrant, exciting show, covers a wide variety of flamenco styles, and you can experience this rich aspect of Spanish culture at the School of Performance and Cultural Industries at the University of Leeds on 30 November at 7 p.m.

The band, comprised of Spanish virtuoso musicians, have been touring the UK with Art of Believing since October 2017, receiving great reviews resulting in the Herald Angel Award at the 2019 Edinburgh International Festival.

Daniel Martinez, a flamenco guitarist and composer from Córdoba, Spain, has been based in Scotland since 2015. After some time performing solo, he decided to start his own flamenco ensemble in Edinburgh. His company now has an exceptional group of musicians – flamenco singers, guitarists, percussionists, a bass player, a violinist and a dancer. Together, they deliver a unique production, taking the audience on a journey from intense emotion in the Seguiriya to the joyous Alegria. Whether you are already a connoisseur or simply curious to have the experience of flamenco, you will not be disappointed.
