Edible Morley

Recently launched Morley Edible is part of the Incredible Edible Network, a national movement whose passion is growing and sharing food.

Having quickly gained a following on social media, the Edible Morley team met up with volunteers on Sunday 15 August to fill two brand new planters at Morley Bottoms with herbs and vegetable plants.

Mags McLeary, founder of Morley Edible and a local resident, said of the newfound interest: “It’s clear that Morley has the appetite for this great concept and with food poverty being such a keen point of national interest, people learning to grow food is essential to empower self sufficiency.”

The recent transformation of Morley Bottoms maximises outdoor space for pedestrians and local businesses, and breathed new life into neglected buildings whose character has been revived. I Several independents have opened bars in the characterful buildings that were previously run down and forgotten, making this an up and coming area that promises to break the North Leeds monopoly on culture and shift the image of this South Leeds market town.
