Why are we thinking about a winter event already ? Because Northern Lights was so good last year!
Following their glittering debut, Northern Lights will host their festive light spectacular again, having welcomed over 100,000 visitors in 2024.

It proved to be a breathtaking journey through a series of immersive illuminations and unique musical pieces in its debut year, so the team behind Northern Lights have reimagined the event and are ready to once again transform the Grade I-listed gardens of the beloved Temple Newsam into one of Yorkshire’s most spectacular festive experiences.

This year, the one-mile paved wonderland walk will feature brand new installations and bespoke musical compositions across more than fifteen distinct illuminated zones throughout Temple Newsam’s beautiful gardens – to produce a truly unique sensory experience. Vintage fairground rides and stalls selling the likes of mulled wine, hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows will complete the festivities, whilst the Christmas Village will make its return with an extensive range of delicious food and drink from a curated selection of local artisanal street food vendors and bars.

Northern Lights have made a series of enhancements to the site and visitor experience for 2025. This year’s event will see the introduction of a new, improved system for amending bookings, reduced event capacity at peak hours, extra neuro-inclusive sensory evenings with reduced capacity and lower audio levels, increased customer services resources, significantly upgraded car parking facilities and more.

Widely regarded as a true highlight of Yorkshire’s festive calendar after its first year, Northern Lights Leeds will continue to shine a trailblazing spotlight on some of the UK’s leading lighting designers and forward-thinking sound artists as they capture the picturesque majesty of Temple Newsam’s famous gardens with a festive, interactive twist.

Northern Lights is presented by multi-award-winning event producers From The Fields. Most recently awarded ‘Event Promoter of the Year 2024’ (Access all Areas) and Best Music Promoter (Event Production Awards), the northern business has over 25 years of experience producing large-scale events and unforgettable memories, from the world-renowned festivals Kendal Calling and Bluedot to award-winning Christmas at Bute Park light trail in Cardiff, as well as Northern Lights Newcastle and citywide cultural event Arts By The Sea.

Northern Lights Leeds will be sharing further details of their plans for this year soon, including illuminations highlights, Christmas Village vendors, local charity partners and much, much more.

Roxy Robinson – Director, From The Fields:
“We’re excited to be returning to the iconic Temple Newsam for Northern Lights 2025. We were blown away by the response from the Leeds community for our debut trail last year and we’ve been busy completely reimagining the magic for this year; with more groundbreaking audio-visual installations, more delicious artisanal food and drink in our Christmas Village and a whole series of behind-the-scenes enhancements building on last year’s successes. We can’t wait to share more!”
