Sela Bar is a small independent, family run, grassroots, late night music venue and bar, a gem accessed down the red stairs to the basement of 20 New Briggate.
For the past 22 years, Sela has provided a stage for the region’s finest musicians to play. The Bar is a hidden gem – a cosy date spot in the week and the perfect place to grab a delicious late night pizza with pals.

At the weekend, Sela really comes alive, with DJ’s spinning all sorts of funk, soul and disco party bangers for revellers to boogie the night away to. Music is massively important at Sela, even hosting a monthly charity music quiz in which music lovers are encouraged to test their knowledge for top prizes, all in aid of a great cause. This may well be the original and best music quiz in town.

Comedy nights, movie screenings, art exhibitions and much more are hosted at Sela.
The team is very proud of all they’ve done in the past 22 years and think it’s a real achievement to have made it this far (especially in today’s current climate).

On Thursday 19th February Sela is throwing a big old party, including LIVE BAND MOTOWN KARAOKE where guests will be invited to take to the stage and belt out their favourite Motown tunes accompanied by a live band – the fabulous Louis Louis Louis. Find out more here.
On Friday 20th, there’s an evening with legendary Sela Bar DJ (and owner) – the man who started it all – Mark’s BIG BIRTHDAY BONANAZA on the decks playing classic funk, soul, motown, disco, hip hop and more that have soundtracked 20 New Briggate for the past 22 years.

Finally, on Saturday 21st Sela is hosting ‘I Don’t Know About You But I’m Feelin’ 22!’ GIRLY POP PARTY including DJ’s Cully and Sona spinning all the best pop bops and party bangers for you to dance the night away to, plus pizza, pints, cake and lots of fun cocktails!
