Calling myself excited is a massive understatement. Imagine stepping into Popeyes, where the music is popping, the staff is all smiles, and it feels like everyone has been waiting for this moment since they were kids. It’s not just a chicken shop; it’s a pilgrimage.
Naturally, I ordered almost everything. The highlight? The Louisiana BBQ Chicken Wrap. Now, BBQ isn’t usually my flavour, but this wrap may have converted me. Perfectly smoky, not overly sweet—just the right blend to make you reconsider all your BBQ biases.
Then came the hot honey chicken wings. These wings… wow. Juicy, flavourful, and that honey sauce? Let’s just say, I’m ready to order about ten boxes to go. Paired with Cajun fries, buffalo dip, and ranch, I was basically transported straight to Louisiana, with a yee-haw party happening right in my mouth.
The tenders were crispy yet tender, a perfect match for every dip I could find—buffalo, ranch, mango habanero, spicy mayo—you name it, I tried it.
But the real showstopper? The Hot Honey Chicken Burger. Soft, slightly sweet bun, crispy chicken, honey drizzle, pickles… it’s the stuff dreams are made of.
The classic biscuits and gravy: The biscuit was like a savoury scone—crisp on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside.
And finally, how could I skip the Millionaire Milkshake? Let’s just say walking out without passing out was a miracle in itself. I dusted off my hands and waddled out.
Popeyes opens tomorrow in Gildersome, Leeds, and you bet I’ll be dragging my family there once I recover from today’s food coma.
