Honours Recently Awarded in Leeds for Services to Leeds

The award celebrates Dennis’ exceptional and inspiring leadership of The Hunslet Club, one of the UK’s largest and longest-standing youth organisations, along with his lifelong commitment to helping young people reach their potential. 

Tom Riordan CBE is being recognised for his service to the City with an honorary doctorate by Leeds Beckett University.

In his career to date, Tom has spent almost 30 years working in senior public sector roles in Leeds – first at Yorkshire Forward and then as Chief Executive of Leeds City Council for 14 years to 2024. His most recent role as a permanent secretary in the Department for Health and Social Care sees him working from Leeds and London. He was awarded a CBE for services to local government in the 2020 New Year Honours.

Rose English was awarded an honorary doctorate by Leeds Beckett University for services to the arts.

The award recognises Rose’s remarkable five-decade career as a pioneering figure in performance art. Emerging from the conceptual art, dance and feminist movements of 1970s Britain, she has become internationally celebrated for her distinctive interdisciplinary work.

Professor Steve Peters

Professor Steve Peters, renowned British psychiatrist and author of ‘The Chimp Paradox’, was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by Leeds Trinity University for his services to psychology and academia.
