The show blends comedy and storytelling, drawing on Alastair’s decade working in a record shop, and is performed inside the very spaces it celebrates. It is funny, nostalgic and quietly moving, with stories of crate digging, music culture and the reality of pursuing a creative life.
Blending stand-up with storytelling, On The Record is performed inside the very spaces it celebrates. After nearly a decade working in a record shop, Clark brings audiences a funny, nostalgic and quietly moving show about music, identity and the reality of chasing a creative life.
The tour will visit record shops and grassroots venues across the country, including Hull, Oxford, London, Nottingham, Bristol and Liverpool, transforming intimate music spaces into pop-up comedy venues.
On The Record charts Clark’s journey from selling second-hand vinyl in Liverpool to stepping away to pursue comedy full time. What began as a job became a defining part of his identity, and the show explores what it means to leave that behind. Expect stories of crate digging, needle drops and heated debates about Fred Durst, alongside a wider reflection on community, nostalgia and starting over.
Alastair Clark: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be bringing this show to record shops up and down the country. Record shops aren’t just places to buy records: they are community hubs for music fans. I can’t wait to explore all these shops and meet the people who keep them going.”
