Chapel Allerton’s Seven Artspace is the venue for poet Maria Ferguson’s ‘Essex Girl’ this Thursday, her tale of a sixteen year old with a secret.
This performance might well provide us with an insight into the mind and life of a young girl from Essex. Should the stereotyping which emerged around 40 years ago be kicked into touch?
The show is directed by Lucy Bairstow and Thursday’s performance is part of Maria’s current UK tour and her first visit to Leeds. Welcome, Maria! We’re a friendly bunch of folk.
‘Essex Girl’ was shortlisted for a Tony Craze Award in 2018 and VAULT’s Show of The Week in 2019. Support comes from Arts Council England, Battersea Arts Centre and Soho Young Company.
Maria’s tour dates are:
2 October Southend Clifftown Theatre
4 October Harlow Playhouse
9 October Norwich Arts Centre
12 October Manchester’s The Edge
15 October Preston – Stanley Arms
5 & 6 November London – Battersea Arts Centre
