The Orchestra of Opera North – New Kirklees Concert Season

Ruth Reinhardt, acclaimed young conductor, opens the new Kirklees Concert Season at Huddersfield Town Hall on Thursday 19 September on her UK debut.

Canadian pianist Marc-André Hamelin is the soloist in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5, and the programme is completed by Webern’s Passacaglia and Schubert’s Fifth Symphony.

On Thursday 28 November, a concert staging of Bartók’s Bluebeard’s Castle features Christopher Purves in the title role and Karen Cargill as Judith.  This performance is in Hungarian and paired with Janáček’s Sinfonietta,  The programme will be reprised at Leeds Town Hall on Saturday 30 November.

Jasdeep Singh Degun, award-winning sitarist and composer, will perform Arya (a new concerto) with the Orchestra in a world premiere at Huddersfield Town Hall on Thursday 23 February 2020. Works by Ulvi Cemal Erkin and Sibelius will also be performed.

As part of Opera North’s longstanding partnership with Kirklees Council, the Kirklees Concert Season continues the tradition of musical excellence in Huddersfield Town Hall, historic and notable civic building, with monthly concerts from the Orchestra of Opera North and international guests.
