More September Gigs in Leeds – and Then There’s October

It’s been good to look forward to September, with Pixies, Mabel, No Hot Ashes, City Calm Down and Ferris & Sylvester all on the Leeds horizon – and now there’s more!

Here’s a selection for October to keep the musical heart of the City pumping:

APRE at Hyde Park Book Club on 1st October

“Frighteningly composed and confident for a band’s first step” DIY
“Endlessly curious art-pop…showing a fastidious eye for detail, the first sign of where APRE could lead – and it’s very exciting indeed.” CLASH
“Anthemic…a refreshing taste of what it is to be young and in love” The Line of Best Fit

Song quality combined with intense live shows have seen this band, still in their early 20s, heralded as one of the most outstanding newcomers from Germany for years.  Their second EP, Wild Stare, demonstrates their talent, spectrum and serenity.

… Buried In The Sand maintains the nocturnal textures of Full Circle, and the same attention to sonic detail that made their debut so rewarding. Built on a clattering beat and ghostly vocals from various members, it’s also a reminder of how good this band is at depicting internal, psychological tension …STEREOGUM

… Kyoto has echoes of Radiohead production, vocal harmonies of Massive Attack and the twitching, insular instrumentals of Arca. It’s altogether quite a heady, claustrophobic piece of ambient trip-hop … THE 405
