Hoi Polloi Street Kitchen: a Permanent Home in Kirkstall at Melodie 71

Known for their bold, Asian-inspired flavours, Hoi Polloi has built a cult following at street food markets, brewery taprooms and festivals across the country for the past three years.

Having found a permanent home at the award winning Melodie 71 on Commercial Road, you can now visit them 5 days a week, with a number of exciting one-off events and collaborations planned throughout the year.

Whilst the food is still very much inspired by owner Josh’s travels around East and South East Asia, the menu offers a selection of small plates and bar snacks that aim to appeal to anyone enjoying one of the bar’s popular cocktails or other drinks.

January saw the launch of a weekly steak night, which has quickly become a favourite with locals, and there are also several themed menus planned for events like Valentine’s Day and St. Patricks Day. Hoi Polloi will also be collaborating with other local chefs and businesses on special set menus as well as using the outside space for BBQs to run alongside some exciting live music events the bar has planned for summer.

“I’ve lived in and run my business from Kirkstall for 4 years and always thought a decent bar was what it was missing. When Melodie 71 opened it quickly became my favourite hang out and I always thought it would always be great to work together on something. I’m proud to have it as my local and really excited to bring some food that’s new and exciting to Kirkstall”  Josh Plews, Chef/Owner of Hoi Polloi.
