Leeds Rum Festival 2024: at Fearns Leeds Dock on 14 September

The 8th Leeds Rum Festival will bring you more rum, infectious music, in-depth masterclasses and delicious food.

The festival is brought to us by Studio Events, responsible for the iconic Leeds Tequila and Leeds Whisky festivals. They’ve had a busy year already, most recently with Tequila Festival this month at Howard Assembly Room. The event was an absolute success so the team are ready and raring to go to make Leeds Rum Festival the best yet!

Studio Events have also been busy running masterclasses and tastings in Leeds first spirit school, The Liquor Studio on Lower Briggate, with new masterclasses also in development.

This year, the Festival is at Fearns Leeds Dock, who celebrate the creative side of Yorkshire, from farm to fork, people to products.

Featured will be over 100 rums available to try from all over the world. Each one is represented by experts ready to talk you through every sip. Rum brands include Chairman’s Reserve, Planteray, Siren, Duppy Share, Takamaka, Castle Hill and many more. All rum sampling and your very own etched Leeds Rum Festival tasting glass are included in the ticket price. The vibe will also be set with a DJ so guests can enjoy the buzzing atmosphere as they taste.

Aside from the main tasting room, you will find bespoke masterclasses hosted by rum ambassadors ready to fill you with knowledge – and rum of course! The sessions will involve interactive discussions about the category where questions are welcome and encouraged.

To pair with your rum, Fearns very own Head Chef Jade Crawley will be serving up a delicious array of Caribbean bowl food to keep your tastebuds dancing.

This year will also feature the speed daiquiri bar, a guest winner at the festivals. Guest can try their luck at making the fastest cocktail in town to win a MONIN cocktail kit with everything you need to make a batch of daiquiris!

On the day, it’s not just samples but tropical cocktails made with Bounty Rum. Wines, beers and soft drinks will also be available from the Fearns Leeds Dock bar. Everyone’s favourite wine and liquor merchants, Latitude Wine & Liquor Merchants will be once again operating the festival Bottle Shop making sure that you can purchase your favourite spirits to take home and enjoy.

The party doesn’t stop at the end of the festival – the event will lead straight into the afterparty for people who want to carry on enjoying the rum festivities. Expect a special arrival drink and a steel pan band bringing the sound of the Caribbean to the festival, along with a carnival troupe adding to the fun and excitement!

Lee Jones, Head of Studio Group: “This is our longest-running festival and over the years has built a dedicated following of rum enthusiasts. The style of the event continues to evolve and this year we can’t wait to see it come to life at Fearns on Leeds Dock. Expect some old favourites and a nice shakeup of the rum lineup to keep our regulars coming back for new experiences.”

Leeds Rum Festival takes place on Saturday 14th September at Fearns Leeds Dock.
