Power, Corruption & Lies in Leeds

Akito Bar Group will open Power, Corruption & Lies, their new bar and restaurant, on 22 November, open seven days a week from midday until late.

The Group’s aim is to create a venue which is not pretentious yet offers the quality Leeds expects in food and drink, as well as a place to dance.  Innovative cocktails, sake, good wines, Pan-Asian small plates and eclectic disco. Now, what more could you ask?

Power, Corruption & Lies occupies the site of Norman Bar, which closed earlier this year.  Dramatic refurbishment has taken place to reveal original features and brickwork, providing the backdrop for minimal décor and a 40 ft bar.

Harley Ali, Akito’s Executive Chef, has created a menu to complement the impressive drinks offering – tempting bar snacks such as Chicken Karaage and Szechuan Aioli, sharing plates like Massaman Spiced Crab and Aged Beef Rump Cap and a revolving selection of Dim Sum and Bao.  The dishes respect culinary traditions whilst using seasonal ingredients sourced from local producers.

With a venue named after a New Order track, Akito continues to demonstrate a love of disco, and the playlists and late night DJs will be sure to track the genre from birth to present-day.

Paul Lane, Akito Director and Leeds bar veteran, has made his mark on the indie food and drink scene and is one of the brains behind Oporto, Knaves Kitchen, Jake’s Bar & Still Room and Neon Cactus.  Power, Corruption & Lies is the Group’s first new opening since their taking over of the Call Lane bars just over a year ago.  Paul is clearly enthused:

“We’re so excited to open our first brand new venue as Akito and the team have knocked it out of the park, creating an incredible food & drink offering. For our first venue to be opening on Call Lane where I’ve spent over half my life is a dream come true. Can’t wait to get the doors open!”

Power, Corruption & Lies will be open 7 days a week from 12PM until 2AM (3AM at weekends). Reservations and enquiries can be made by calling 0113 4300 144 or by emailing [email protected]
