Whistle Punks: Axe-Throwing Fun and Friendly Competition

Looking for a night out with a twist? Whistle Punks Axe Throwing Bar offers a thrilling experience that combines friendly competition with a unique atmosphere.

On Thursday night, we visited Whistle Punks and had a memorable time filled with laughter, adrenaline –
and a little bit of friendly family rivalry.

Safety First
We arrived at The Electric Press, home of Whistle Punks in Leeds, just before 6pm. The evening kicked off with a speedy but comprehensive safety briefing. Our instructor was knowledgeable and engaging, ensuring we understood the basics of axe-throwing before we began, as it isn’t something we do every day! They explained everything we needed to know to throw safely and have fun doing it.

Mastering the Technique

Once the briefing was completed, it was time for some practice throws. This was the ideal opportunity to perfect our technique and our instructor was there every step of the way. Their expert tips and tricks helped us keep the axes on the target and ensure we had the skills needed to hit those bullseyes. It was reassuring to know that an instructor was with us throughout the session, offering guidance and encouragement – and some laughter, too.

During our time slot, we learned four different ways to throw the axe. The two normal throws gave us the foundation, while the two trick shots added a fun twist to the experience. We were given ample time to practice each technique, which was both challenging and rewarding.

Let the Games Begin
With our newfound skills, it was time to put on our game faces and kick off our fierce-but-friendly tournament. The atmosphere was electric; we were cheering each other on and could hear other groups doing the same, including some good-natured banter. The tournament added an element of excitement and competition that made the evening even more enjoyable.

One of the highlights of the evening was a game called “Battle Ship.” Each participant set up X’s on the board for their opponent to try and hit. This game added a strategic element to the experience, requiring us to think carefully about our throws.

As the night went on, we concluded with a traditional target scoring competition to determine who would be crowned the champion of our group. The competitive spirit was infectious, and everyone was eager to claim the top spot.

Food and Drink
In between axe-throwing rounds, we had the chance to indulge in some pizza and drinks. While the food was decent, we were having too much fun to eat it while it was still hot. It didn’t take away from the experience, though, as our focus was firmly on the axes.

Ringing the Bell
One of the most exciting moments of the night was the opportunity to ring the bell. If you hit the little circle on the top left or right of the board, you earn the chance to ring the bell. It’s a challenging spot to hit, but incredibly satisfying when you do. We each managed to ring the bell, and it was undoubtedly one of the most fun parts of the evening.

Final Thoughts
Overall, our evening at Whistle Punks was a fantastic experience. The combination of expert instruction, fun games and a lively atmosphere made for an unforgettable night. Whether you’re an axe-throwing novice or a seasoned pro, Whistle Punks offers something for everyone. We left with big smiles on our faces, new skills under our belts, and a newfound appreciation for this unique sport. If you’re looking for a fun, active and friendly night out, Whistle Punks Axe Throwing Bar is definitely worth a visit.
