Molly Rymer – Someone Else

Leeds’ Molly Rymer releases her second single, Someone Else, on 24 September and plays her launch gig at 360 Club, Leeds that night.

“Molly Rymer is an artist you should be accidentally stumbling upon in some smoke-filled Parisian café to truly appreciate her spark of brilliance.” The State of the Arts.

With “impressive, wandering vocals”, Molly somehow mixes gentle with power to deliver Someone Else, a song about how hard it is to move on fro,m the first heartbreak. Molly: “Not so much trying to capture a feeling of sadness, but that liminal space after a breakup when you don’t really know how to be single but don’t know how to be with somebody either. It explores that desire to understand yourself and how you feel.”

Played on electric guitar, the melody is simple and bewitching and builds around a quiet but steady beat. It may be sombre but it is also warm. Molly Rymer’s maturity in spite of her youth is finding her a rightful place on the Leeds music scene.

Written early during the pandemic, the single will finally get its chance to shine live as Molly launches it at an upcoming show at the 360 club in Leeds. Having previously played renowned shows such as #360RAW7in association with Alan Raw, BBC Music Introducing who has championed Molly, the singer-songwriter will return to 360 Club along with more new music, too long after the success of Enough in 2019.

The single will be available on all digital platforms including Spotify and Soundcloud, and the music video will be released on YouTube at 12am BST on 24 September.

You can listen to Someone Else here.

The single launch party is at 360 Club, Lending Room, Leeds, on Friday 24th September.
