New Single Review: Spielmann’s “Over It”

If you’ve ever wanted a song that captures the feeling of being emotionally wrung out and ready to dance it off, Spielmann’s latest single “Over It” might be your new obsession.

The Leeds-based artist, also known as Ben Lewis, delivers an indie-pop anthem that blends raw emotion with polished production, and it hits hard in the best way.

Cushioned by a smooth bed of twinkling lead synth melodies, it balances sunny instrumentation with lyrical self-doubt.

Speaking about the song, Lewis says: “‘Over’ It is classic Spielmann – misanthropic, nihilistic, moans about the world, writes a massive chorus about it, feels better about it all…for a bit.”

Blending the expansive euphoria of The War On Drugs with the fuzzed-out warmth of Phoenix, “Over It” manages to sound both nostalgic and fresh. It was recorded at Greenmount Studios and mixed by Richard Wilkinson, whose credits include Adele and Bombay Bicycle Club. This is Spielmann’s first track produced in a professional studio, and the difference is clear. The song is ambitious, full of soaring melodies and rich textures that take it far beyond his earlier DIY recordings.

Spielmann has hit the road in support of Donny Benet, with tour dates throughout May. Summer festival performances are also lined up, and more shows are expected to be announced soon.

If “Over It” is any indication, Spielmann is stepping into a new chapter with confidence and clarity.
