Northlight Arts Centre Team Springs Surprise on Co-founder

Last summer, Tim Miller and Paul Simon took over premises in Potternewton Lane, Chapel Allerton, which were – until the pandemic – occupied by Inkwell Arts.

Walking into the unknown!

The pair and their team have been working tirelessly to improve the interior and the facilities, and provide spaces for artists and community groups.  Studio spaces, an exhibition area, workshops, a dance floor and music facilities, as well as a bar, cafe and outside events spaces, have all combined to bring the building back to life.

Northlight is the home of North Art (previously Yorkshire Art), led by Tim, which – apart from its support for artists – also offers framing and printing services.

We love it when a plan comes together.

Paul’s domains are the kitchen, bar and catered events, both indoors and out.  Last weekend, the team surprised him for his 50th birthday in a complex, co-ordinated, undercover mission which had been two months in the planning. (This article will provide another sneaky surprise for Paul. We think he deserves it.)

The team and guests enjoyed a barbecue alongside an exhibition of Paul’s own photography and an onscreen photographic journey of his years, beginning from the age of just 3.5 months. Gifts predictably focused on Paul’s age!

Friends had travelled from as far away as Worcester and Wells in Somerset. Everyone was able to enjoy food, drinks and music (DJ-ing courtesy of associate and friend Brendan McGawley) into the night.

If you’re looking for a space (including car parking) for your special event, or for regular use, you can find out more here.

Paul, Tim or Boris will be happy to help.
