Pudsey Civic Hall is set to transform into a sanctuary for mid-century furniture design and sustainable style as the acclaimed Vintage Home Show returns to its West Yorkshire roots on Sunday 27th September.
The event is a must-visit for those seeking high-quality vintage furniture, rare ceramics and unique textiles that bypass the flimsy quality of the modern high street. Doors open at 10:30am, welcoming hundreds of enthusiasts to browse 40 specialist traders who travel from across the UK to share their expertise and carefully curated collections of mid-century and vintage homewares and furniture.
The showcase, now in its 14th year, features an impressive mix of long-standing veterans and fresh faces. Visitors can browse rarer pieces from Statement Furniture, a show staple since 2012 that specialises in sought-after mid-century makers alongside popular British brands Gplan and Ercol.
They are joined by exciting newer additions, including debutant Iris Katoen, offering handloomed textiles and vintage kilims, and Elliot from Urbn Nest. Travelling from West Northumberland, Elliot brings a deep knowledge of mid-century restoration and offers affordable, hand-finished furniture that he rarely sells at public fairs. Elliot can be seen on BBC TV’s Money for Nothing.
Local favourites also return to the hall, including Alfie Retro Robot, a trader present since the show’s inception. Jill’s stall acts as a nostalgic time capsule filled with Hornsea pottery, Observer books, and kitsch childhood treasures.
Lisa Doel, who has run the Vintage Home Show for the past four years: “Our September event is always popular with visitors looking to find pieces to create a cosy home for Autumn. What’s great about the Vintage Home Show is that the stock is always changing, giving visitors the chance to join the sustainable furniture revolution. These one-of-a-kind finds offer a greener way to furnish a home with pieces that truly tell a story. Whether shoppers are looking for a statement armchair re-upholstered for modern living or smaller artworks and pieces to carry home on the bus, the variety ensures that mass production is replaced by soul and character.
Many people typically tend to shop for furniture and homewares with headphones in, or by bidding online, often with very little human interaction or genuine interest in what they’re even looking for. We present them with a completely different kind of experience by bringing together a community of people and traders who love to chat, share their knowledge and meet in person. They show you items in real life, stir nostalgic memories and talk about pieces they’ve sold in the past, creating a very personal experience, rather than just another soulless shopping trip.”
While the nature of vintage hunting often draws early crowds eager to secure one-off gems, traders replenish their stock throughout the day to ensure those arriving later still find incredible pieces.
Added Lisa, who also runs the Statement Furniture stall at the event: “We aim to give visitors a break from their tech by offering them an authentic and truly memorable in-person experience while shopping sustainably with small, independent businesses.”
Entry is available on the door at Pudsey Civic Hall, though organisers recommend booking in advance via the official website to guarantee access during peak times.
