The Savvy Baker Has Opened at Trinity Leeds

From lockdown craving to bona fide business model, the Savvy Baker has just opened its doors at Trinity Leeds – and we are already hooked.

From Sunday 7th December, expect delights the likes of which Willy Wonka would be proud – from Banana Bread Matcha Lattes to Jammy Dodger brownies.

The opening marks a major milestone for the fast-growing Leeds-born brand, which began from remarkably humble beginnings – as a lockdown kitchen project – and has since catapulted into Yorkshire stardom, emerging as one of the region’s most recognisable independent bakeries.

Founder Savannah Roqaa knows a thing or two about producing the perfect brownie. Her first pop-up in Roundhay had queues down the street, and after a record-breaking Easter, the Savvy Baker launched their UK delivery service.

Shortly afterwards, Savannah rented an empty warehouse and turned it into a fully operational bakery. With next to no experience, she hired bakers, bought ovens – and endeavoured to learn everything on the job. Fast forward and she’s snagged one of Leeds’ prime locations in Trinity – joining the ranks of more than one hundred brands and forty restaurants.

We spoke to her down at the launch and she had an energy just as heartwarming as her bakes: “I’m absolutely buzzing to be finally opening our doors. This City has supported us from day one and we can’t wait to bring our brownies to the heart of Leeds. The new store represents how far the brand has come – and we can’t wait to celebrate with everyone.”

Located at Trinity Leeds on Albion Street, the brand spanking new Savvy Baker store includes a dedicated matcha bar and an on-site cookie bakery, where visitors can drool over sweet treats being freshly made throughout the day, offering a behind-the-scenes view into the process which started it all.

The menu – which is a love letter to comfort food – will include The Savvy Baker’s full line-up of signature brownies, blondies, and seasonal specials – plus a full hot drink selection featuring coffee from another City favourite – North Star.

Whilst my favourite brownie was the jammy dodger, you’ll also find a childhood favourite and bestseller in the Caramel Cornflake option, which tastes just as tempting as it sounds. Other bounteous beauties include the Oreo, Double Chocolate and the Chocolate Orange.

Looking for unapologetic deliciousness? You’ve come to the right place.

The Savvy Baker will open from 8am – 9pm Monday – Saturday, and 9am – 7pm on Sundays.
